Steve Flashman
has been around for a few years!
He trained as a Baptist Minister at
Spurgeon's Theological College and since
then has travelled the world as a
Singer/Songwriter, Author, TV and Radio
Presenter and Preacher. From the Streets of
San Francisco, to the slums of Calcutta;
Wembley Arena in London to schools, prisons
and clubs around Europe; The Marquee Club in
Soho to the Barrios of South America; the
Killing Fields of Cambodia to the Kibera
Slum in Nairobi; the Royal Albert Hall to
the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. He was
Founder and International Director of
Soapbox Expeditions, which became one of the
biggest Short Term Service Agencies in
Europe, taking 300 people a year on
practical aid and Christian mission projects
to some of the poorest locations on earth.
More recently he was UK Managing Director of
Emmanuel International, again involved with
mission work in many parts of the world.
He currently leads Immanuel Church in
Chichester, England with his wife Sarah and
together they are developing a resource for
the community, with a creative arts and
worship centre. On the 1st Sunday of each
month they run Cafe Church with a creative
family service and are looking to take over
a derelict chapel on a decommissioned NHS
site next door to where they live. The
development of this community project will
become a major focus for them in 2009/10.
They also run On the Box Mission, taking
Short Term Teams on Practical Aid Projects
to the developing world. Steve has recorded
9 contemporary rock albums and written 4
books - with more music and words on the
way!

big hit in the 90's! Now this New Edition has been
revised and released on the internet as an eBook and

version is read by Steve who also composed the original
Rainchild Soundtrack to accompany his Trilogy of Fantasy
Fiction Stories written for 8 to 88 year olds! "The

"Fighting Back!"
In 1997
Steve toured with his band Warrior in India. This album
was released to coincide with the tour and was released
in India on the Sitara Music Label. Proceeds from the
album were used for practical aid projects in India.
Review:
"The notes from Soapbox Music describe this album
as "a statement of intent to take on the powers of
darkness in a lost and fallen world, born out of
Steve's work through Soapbox Expeditions which
specialises in taking people of all ages to make a
difference in some of the poorest areas of the
world." A great strength of this album. Steve's
ninth, is his collaboration with the newly formed
Warrior, a blend of four experienced musicians and
four female backing vocalists. Steve is an
innovative and thoughtful songwriter and arranger
whose themes bring home the message with a freshness
and infectiousness in each song. The 56 mins begin
with two in-your-face celebration and praise tracks,
then the title track has similar structure to
Heartbeat's "Voice To The Nation" from 11 years ago.
exhorting action: "How long will we turn a blind eye
in this land?" Two dance tracks. "Planet Holly wood"
and "Totally Disconnected" follow, without missing
out on strong lyrical content. On "Friendly With The
Russians" there's a simplicity in the point. "Love
is the key that will set you free/To be all that
you're meant to be." As a pop album with varied
Style, this is outstanding. Among the things I like
is the contribution of the four backing vocalists.
The strength of their harmony shows particularly in
the chorus of the simplest song on the album, "All I
Want Is You" and in the reprise of the final song.
"Warrior Of Love", which continues, "Fighting for
your heart/Challenging resistance, giving a new
start/Causing walls to crumble, giants start lo
fall/Fear Flies out in terror al the Warrior's
call." If the hand can produce something like this
sound al live concerts, they'll be well worth
seeing.
